ARCHITECTURE
Summary
The Haynes Recreation and Wellness Center serves as the trailhead to the Chacon Creek hike-and-bike trailhead that leads directly to the Rio Grande. A 12-acre master plan, the Center was It’sdesigned explicitly to respond to connect the health and wellness of individuals to that of their natural surroundings.
All of the elements of the architecture are designed with sustainable building practices in mind. Conservation techniques include, passive design strategies, solar power, ecosystem restoration and xeriscaping, rain and condensate water collection systems for irrigation, and vegataitve roofs. In addition to this 45,000- square foot recreation and wellness center, this compound includes an outdoor aquatic center, green roof, recycling and composting center.
